Forbidden Love
Every dawn that breaks the night,
I see you there,
my heart’s one light.
Your smile spills like morning dew,
and every day I’m born anew
with the ache to fold you in my arms,
to shield you from the world’s alarms,
to cradle every tear you’ve cried,
and keep you safe by my side.
God carved your face from quiet flame,
He whispered beauty when He spoke your name;
the curve of grace in every line,
the mercy glowing in your eyes divine.
He painted stars inside your soul,
then set a wall I can’t console—
for all this glory was not meant
to answer the prayer my heart has sent.
I’d build you gardens out of time,
write psalms across the midnight sky,
carry your sorrows on my chest,
and love you till the oceans rest.
But heaven drew a silent line
between your heart and this heart of mine.
You smile, unknowing, soft and free—
and never see the wreck of me.
So I will love you from the shade,
a secret vow that never fades.
Every day I see you still,
I die a little on this hill
where God made perfect, flawless you—
and taught me love I cannot do.
