From Bondage to Glory – Poem

In Egypt’s chains the Hebrews cried,
A lamb was slain, its blood applied.
Death passed over the marked door,
And Pharaoh’s grip was broke once more.

They fled by night through parted sea,
From slavery’s night to liberty.
Unleavened bread and bitter herb,
A people born when God’s arm stirred.

Centuries turned, in upper room
The Lamb of God met certain doom.
At Passover the bread He broke,
His body given, His blood outpoured.

Upon the cross He bore our sin,
The veil was torn, new life broke in.
Three days He slept in borrowed grave,
Then rose triumphant, sin’s power slain.

He walked the earth, then rose on high,
From Olivet He pierced the sky.
The Spirit came like rushing wind,
On every heart new birth to bring.

From mountain peaks where He ascended,
To valleys low where grace descended,
The old is passed, the new has come
From Egypt’s night to Heaven’s dawn.

One story told through blood and bread,
From exodus to empty tomb,
From slavery’s yoke to freedom won
In Christ the Passover is done.
