Chapter 12: Prophecy

  1. “And in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed,
    because you have obeyed My voice.”
  2. Thus says God the LORD,
    Who created the heavens and stretched them out,
    Who spread out the earth and its offspring,
    Who gives breath to the people on it
    And spirit to those who walk in it,
    “I am the LORD, I have called You in righteousness,
    I will also hold You by the hand and watch over You,
    And I will appoint You as a covenant to the people,
    As a light to the nations,
    To open blind eyes,
    To bring out prisoners from the dungeon
    And those who dwell in darkness from the prison.
    “I am the LORD, that is My name;
    I will not give My glory to another,
    Nor My praise to graven images.”
  3. “Your houses will I give to a people that shall come;
    which not having heard of me yet shall believe me; to whom I have showed no signs,
    yet they shall do that I have commanded them.
    They have seen no prophets,
    yet they shall call their sins to remembrance,
    and acknowledge them.
    I take to witness the grace of the people to come,
    whose little ones rejoice in gladness: and though they have not seen me with bodily eyes,
    yet in spirit they believe the thing that I say.
    And now, brother, behold what glory; and see the people that come from the east:
    Unto whom I will give for leaders, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, Oseas, Amos, and Micheas, Joel, Abdias, and Jonas,
    Nahum, and Abacuc, Sophonias, Aggeus, Zachary, and my messenger, which is called also an angel of the Lord.”
  4. The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify to the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “all nations shall be blessed in you.”
  5. You, being a wild olive, are now grafted in among God’s chosen people and became partaker with them of the rich root of the olive tree.
  6. For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
  7. For the Jews and Jerusalem, seventy weeks have been decreed, to finish transgression, to make an end of sin, to make atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy place.
