When God Blesses, Don’t Shut the Door

2 Corinthians 9:8 (KJV): “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.”
Matthew 6:32–33 (KJV): “For after all these things do the Gentiles seek: for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
God can teach us in the most amazing ways. There once was a man who wanted to bless a woman with money at Christmas. She refused the gift without knowing the amount and later had to borrow $200, which she had to repay to the lender. Knowing he had planned to give her far more than $200, the man felt guilty and decided to give her double the blessing the following February. Once again she declined without knowing the amount. In October, the man suddenly felt led to bless her with a gift on her birthday worth $42,000. This time he told her exactly what the gift was, and she accepted. Seventeen days before her birthday, she shared a desire with him that would have required him to break his moral code—a code she knew well. Because of that, he decided he would no longer bless her.
So what is the lesson? When you are a child of God, God will bless you with what you need. He will open doors, bring the right people into your life, and create the right environment so you can be blessed. We often shut the doors, shun the people God sends, embrace the ones He did not send, and destroy the environment. Afterward we complain, “Why did You not bless me?” But He did. He gave you what you asked for—what you needed. You either rejected it or refused to trust in God and the ways of God.
